Fenghuang Ancient Town listed as popular ancient town for inbound tourists

Fenghuang Ancient Town in Xiangxi Prefecture made the list of top ten popular ancient towns for inbound tourists released by China Tourism Academy (Data Center of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism) recently.

The Fenghuang Ancient Town Tourist Area, with a total area of about 4.39 square kilometers, is surrounded by mountains and waters. The Miao ethnic ancient buildings on both sides are made of gray bricks and tiles. In recent years, the ancient town has continuously improved the tourism environment, standardized the tourism market, and upgraded tourism service facilities.

At the beginning of this year, it was rated as a national 5A level tourist attraction, and Tongren Fenghuang Airport was officially approved for opening to the public. The number of overseas tourists visiting Fenghuang Ancient Town has continued to increase.

Fenghuang County received a total of 160,767 overseas tourists in the first three quarters, a year-on-year increase of 41.84%. Fenghuang Ancient Town was founded in the Tang Dynasty and flourished in the Ming and Qing dynasties. It was once praised by the New Zealand writer Rewi Alley as “the most beautiful town in China”.
